612 Scuderia carried the torch - prior to the 456 was the 412/400

One of the most underrated Ferraris you can buy, and therefore one of the most interesting for me. I love the styling.

Prettiest Ferrari since the 365 GTB/4 Daytona. Even better than the 308/328 and 288 GTO IMO.

There hasn't been one as pretty since. It's timeless.

612 Scaglietti you mean. The Scuderia was an F430 that replaced the Challenge Stradale.

Not as much of a fan of the 456M's "revised" fascia as shown in the top picture, but the original 456GT is by far my favorite Ferrari 2+2. Stylish and elegant, muscular yet restrained; nothing obnoxious and overwrought like today's Ferraris.

I cannot emphasize enough how much I love the GT.

I hope, I'd also hope for a Porsche front brake upgrade. All of this would cost under $10,000 so I wouldn't feel like I could be getting a much better car for that amount. I've already put together a budget and wishlist.

There's just something about building your own car how you want it rather than buying a brand new car.......

I might actually keep my current B5 also like a total hoarder, haha.

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > Manuél Ferrari

Should be! Possibly a bit over.

$1,000 for the brakes.

$1,000 for the wheels and tires.

$4,000 or less for the car.

$2,500 for a used/reconditioned Supercharger.

$6-800 worth of bodywork.

$500 for S4 interior/steering wheel.

Probably $500 for other shit.

Look at this 911!

http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/4874606768…

The engine was replaced by the factory already so you don't have to deal with the IMS issue. The factory replacement engines probably had that issue fixed already.

Kinja'd!!! Manuél Ferrari > jkm7680

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > Manuél Ferrari
03/01/2015 at 19:51

Kinja'd!!!1

Haha, I've got those on my radar. Insurance might be a little ghahgahghdsjghf though.

Kinja'd!!! Manuél Ferrari > jkm7680
03/01/2015 at 19:54

Kinja'd!!!2

YES! Glad you have them on your radar.

I really don't think the insurance would be bad at all. Insurance usually has more to do with the car's value than its power. Also if power is factored in then they probably only look at total power, not power to weight. A 996 Carrera's total power isn't even considered high these days.

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > Manuél Ferrari
03/01/2015 at 19:57

Kinja'd!!!1

Haha, they're always on there. Like actually always. Whenever one comes up it's usually salvage title AF or a missing engine or some weird inbetween garbage.

I'll try to grab a quote though and see where it sets me at.

Kinja'd!!! Manuél Ferrari > jkm7680
03/01/2015 at 20:00

Kinja'd!!!2

I bet you it costs way more to insure a 5 year old Mustang GT due to the higher HP!

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > Manuél Ferrari
03/01/2015 at 20:01

Kinja'd!!!1

Probably cheaper than a WRX, haha.

Kinja'd!!! Manuél Ferrari > jkm7680
03/01/2015 at 20:08

Kinja'd!!!2

It probably is! Because middle age and old men drive 911s, young men drive WRXs

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > Manuél Ferrari
03/01/2015 at 20:14

Kinja'd!!!1

Haha and that's completely true. Plus WRXs get crashed a whole lot more.

Kinja'd!!! Manuél Ferrari > jkm7680
03/01/2015 at 20:21

Kinja'd!!!2

Yes! WRXs are probably one of the most commonly crashed cars cause young kids increase the BOOST and go too fast

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > Manuél Ferrari
03/01/2015 at 20:23

Kinja'd!!!1

Ticketed also.

That's the best part about building up an Avant. So that way, the insurance is still for a 190 hp Wagon, while it makes a fair amount more than that, into S4 territory.

Kinja'd!!! Manuél Ferrari > jkm7680
03/01/2015 at 20:52

Kinja'd!!!2

Haha that's true! They don't know your sleeper is fast

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > Manuél Ferrari
03/01/2015 at 20:54

Kinja'd!!!1

Haha, I'm guessing it would be even cheaper than my current A4 since the Avant would be a wagon duhhhhhh. It was a bitch enough finding a good condition sedan, so I have no idea how I'm going to find an Avant with -100k on it.

Kinja'd!!! Manuél Ferrari > jkm7680
03/02/2015 at 00:24

Kinja'd!!!2

oh yeah that's the hard part! finding one with less than 100K is gonna be pretty tough. people like these cars so they drive them!

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > Manuél Ferrari
03/02/2015 at 08:21

Kinja'd!!!1

That's true, haha.

I've found some with insane mileage. Like I found one with 350k a few days ago.

Kinja'd!!! Manuél Ferrari > jkm7680
03/02/2015 at 15:10

Kinja'd!!!2

It's SO hard to find older Audis and BMWs that are low mileage.

Mercs are easier cause little old ladies buy them and only use them to go to the grocery store.

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > Manuél Ferrari
03/02/2015 at 15:28

There's a few out there, but usually are automatic and fwd. Very occasionally, one will come up though. It's either that, or one with recent major services done to it.

Sad, but true. I've debated a swap, but I'd rather keep the general reliability. PES S/C units are known for not really affecting the original reliability at all, so that's good for my purposes.
